Preston Cross

Preston Cross is a Birmingham-based Lighting Designer, Programmer, Technician, and Draftsmen for Theater, Dance, Live Events, and Concerts. He is currently working as The AV Specialist at Design Productions, acting as the Head Crew Chief, Lighting Specialist, and Rigger for the Events Team. Preston has designed events in Nashville, Austin, and Birmingham. He has collaborated on many events and designs including: The First Annual Music City Grand Prix, Swanball at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Creek Show Arts Festival 2022 at Moody Amphitheater, BBoy City XXVIII Unity Festival at Moody Amphitheater, One Nation Under a Groove Tour at Haute Spot, and House of Robb for SXSW.

While he has been working mostly in Event Lighting Preston's background and passion is in Theatrical Lighting Design. He received his BFA in Theatrical Production Design from Belmont University in 2022, and has been working on theatrical productions since he was in Elementary School. Preston has Designed a wide range of plays in many different spaces, his favorite design so far has been Kodachrome at the Belmont University Black Box Theater.

Lighting has always been his main focus but Preston's skills and training have allowed him to explore different forms of art over the years. While in Austin, TX among other duties Preston was the Production Photographer, and Draftsmen for the Events Team at The Werd Company. He has also worked as Graphic Designer for a few Professional Wrestlers Such as Rush Freeman and Magic Jake Dumas, creating designs for their ring gear and merch. Finally, Preston's love of art has always been a part of his life and he uses some of his free time to create works of drawn art using all of his artistic training.
