
Preston Cross
Preston Cross is a talented Lighting Designer based in Birmingham, known for his extensive work in the fields of theater, dance, live events, and concerts. He is also the proud owner of Cross Lighting & Audio Solutions, an audio-visual rental and production company located in Homewood, Alabama.
Over the years, Preston has had the opportunity to design events in various vibrant cities such as Nashville, Austin, and Birmingham. His impressive portfolio includes collaborations on significant events like the First Annual Music City Grand Prix, Swanball at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Creek Show Arts Festival 2022 at Moody Amphitheater, BBoy City XXVIII Unity Festival at Moody Amphitheater, and the One Nation Under a Groove Tour at Haute Spot. He has also contributed to House of Robb for SXSW, among many other projects. While Preston has primarily focused on Event Lighting, his true passion lies Theatrical Lighting Design.
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatrical Production Design from Belmont University in 2022 and has been involved in theatrical productions since his elementary school days. Preston has designed a diverse array of plays in various venues, with one of his favorite projects being the lighting for Kodachrome at the Belmont University Black Box Theater.
Though lighting has always been his main focus, Preston's skills and artistic training have allowed him to branch out into different art forms over the years. During his time in Austin, Texas, he took on multiple roles, including Production Photographer and Draftsman for the Events Team at The Werd Company. Additionally, he has worked as a Graphic Designer for several professional wrestlers, such as Rush Freeman and Magic Jake Dumas, creating unique designs for their ring gear and merchandise. Preston's lifelong love for art continues to inspire him, and he often dedicates his free time to creating drawn art, utilizing his comprehensive artistic training.
